Hi all,

I’ve just moved back to the UAE, I was in Dubai before, but am now in Abu Dhabi.

In a few months time I plan to get a custom spec'd Defender 90 made up and shipped over here.

Has anyone imported before and know of what I have to do to get it registered over here, any potential issues and a good company to use etc... I'm at the very start of my planning, so thought I would test the water in this forum first...

Cheers

Mattt

Can't you get it ordered through Al Tayer? Or is this an older one?

A 'used' personal import should not be a problem, however it must be a LHD.

Out of interest, which one is it and what work will you be doing to it?

Im not in the game for a spanking new one, so was going to get a 2nd hand one and get it specked up with:

1)V8
2)Stronger Diff if needs be
3)large wheels
4)lift
5)AC
6)left hook.

There are a few places in the UK that can do anything you like and are not too expensive...

As I’m sure you can tell I’m keen on taking it into the desert, love going to liwa. It was a huge call, as I love going on the track= used to have a kit car. reading up and finding out that Yas Island are having track days has really tempted me... any of you guys been on it?

I've not, but a few friends have. What do you want to know?

What are the processes and checks that I will have to do once the car arrives off the boat?

Oh right,

Is it well organized, or do all the locals go and tear around it like a blue a**ed fly and spoil it for others by being reckless?

I plan to go along and watch at the next one. Any of you guys planning on tracking your car?

Is it busy?
