Ill be in Dubai for a couple of days for work from the 30th of this month till the 4th when i fly back to Bahrain.
Im staying at the Holiday Inn Express (Dubai Internet City), what are my options if any to go somewhere for a tipple with a view!?

The last time i was in Dubai, the Burj was a fin' big hole in the ground, DIMC was sky crains and half finished buildings, cyclone was still open (only went once, not my idea, and the Saudi king had just died so lights were on and no music! and no, i did not know what i was in for!! eek) and all the islands were just a bunch of well placed rocks!

I seem to remember from my days there that internet city was quite a way out on SZ highway?? i used to drink at the irish village allot but i know thats bloody miles away from where ill be.

Oh and Chilli, if you read this before i reply to your boat post DM me on my email, boats is what i do and i will be happy to try and answer any questions you have! biggrin

Thanks,

Dunk.

Barasti - it's at the Mina Seyah Meridian at the Marina so very clost to you. Any taxi driver will know how to get there and it will take about two minutes from where you are.

Get there for fourish and sink a couple of cold ones as the sun dips over the marina and into the sea. Gets pretty busy later on which is good if you're into that sort of thing...I am.

eek About the same as here in Bahrain then, but the amount of money we save on fuel and smokes (if you do) more than makes up for it in my eyes.

Fingers crossed on the happy hour, i should be finished by 5 each day so i should make it in time for a couple of cheap ones! I guess the bars will be full of bikers too?? Or do i need to remind myself that its hardly going to be the Bulldog Bash! smile

Fortunately I gave up smoking before I moved out here otherwise I'd be on about 60 a day now just for the hell of it.

Fuel goes straight onto an Enoc/Epco card for me but a visiting mate almost through a fit when I casually filled the wife's Seat FSI with higher octane Super because that's what the sticker says. He soon calmed down when he realised it had cost all of about a tenner.

Ive given up loads of times so its not a problem for me :P im just enjoying the freedom that was taken away from us back home for a little longer! (i have to admit smoking at my desk was pretty cool, not that smoking makes you cool kids!)

I also end up doing the fuel trick when ive had visitors over! The best way i explain it to people back home is a litre of fuel costs me less than a 500ml bottle of water, that normaly gets them! smile

It's great isn't it....I've started drinking petrol instead, it's cheaper.

Funny you should say that. Talking to a colleague the other day, and he was saying his mate pays around AED130 to fill up his 4x4.
The same car filled up in Saudi......AED30! A fiver.

I was also told that all our fuel here in Bahrain gets pumped accross free from Saudi, guess that has to do with all the refining here.

Just dreading the day im back in Sainsburys watching the pounds go round quicker the the liters.... plus i'll probably still be sat in my car waiting for someone to fill it up for me!!
