Site isn't great for info! Couldn't see anything there about tickets (for spectators, I found race entry info).
What about accom/camping? Is booze allowed and/or are there bars there?
Tickets to watch are free. No camping; it's at the Autodrome. No bars at the venue, although there might be in Motor City which is next door. I'm sure if you snuck some booze in, no one would really care. What about accom/camping? Is booze allowed and/or are there bars there?
If you're expecting a Le Mans-type atmosphere, you'll be very disappointed. Last year's event saw more crews and racers than spectators. But you can walk around the paddock, talk to the crews and get really up close to the cars and the action - that's the appeal, rather than the drunken revelry that is Le Mans.

I had a seat but we lost our biggest sponsor and now I think I'll just be watching. [SULK]
I think RSPhil might be driving. Phil, you racing?
Im the same as you dude.....very unhappy!!I think RSPhil might be driving. Phil, you racing?
I will be there with the camera so stand by and wait for the updates on crankandpiston.com
A mate and I popped along. It was fantastic. Walking around the track, you were feet away from the cars. Along the second straight, there was a gap in the fences. Standing there looking at these things going past, was unreal. A Clio getting done by a porsche, only for the Holden, to pull out and teach him a lesson. that Holden must have been 6 feet away when it went past....what a noise!!!
That black Aston was also silly loud....T'was like thunder.
Big thanks to Wayne who was kind enough to invite us into his pit and have a nose around..He was running a BMW (which had serious issues) and an Aston....beautiful car.
However, the bloody event was hardly adveertised...There was no-one there, no-one. Fansatic cars, beautiful venue/facilities,....and no more than a few dozen spectators.....such a shame.

They moved in next door to a racetrack. We should have very little sympathy for such people.
BTW, it was bloody brilliant. Some really good performances from the local boys (esp AUH Motorsport who were class winners in the Aston and Duel Racing who came second in class in the Clio).

Really great atmosphere and some good action on track. Just wish the Autodrome would make a better job of promoting it - I reckon there were more punters there this year, but that's not saying much.
I stayed there till 4am taking some videos and photos. I would have stayed longer if they had kept the cafe bit open and I could have got a coffee or redbull
Some great racing but as everyone has said shame they didnt advertise it better!
On another note! Have you seen how much Yas Island are charging for spectators for the GP2s? Holy st its 150 AED just to get in!
Track Days are starting at 650 going up to 1000 AED and 100 just for a passenger! facking ell make the Autodrome look very cheap.
