I am thinking of going to the GP at the end of October. There is nothing available on Yas Island so will have to stay in Abu Dhabi. Can anyone suggest a reasonable hotel and advice on the more fun area's to stay.

Thanks

AFAIK the only hotel that will be open on island will be the circuit, don't think the others will be done by then.Local is Al Raha Beach, bit further is Shangri-La - but it is steep, although Traders hotel might be open by then and cheaper. They are out the city though.

In town, if you want cheap there is the HoJo (Howard Johnson), Grand Continental (I lived there for 6 months!), or the usual chains - Hilton, Sheraton, Meridien.

All much of a muchness, just depends what you want to pay. It's easy to get around, and cheap - so don't be put off by staying in a cheap hotel as you can still visit the Emirates Palace etc.

I'd be surprised if you can find a room in AD at a good price. You may need to consider Dubai (which isn't much further from down town AD anyway).

From Dubai to AHU on the new Yas island interchange is only 40 ish mins.
Stay in the marina, and just drive it's one long road so you can't get lost.

AHU has no nightlife apart from old-age-Expats who have been here so long
they've married there philipino mades !

AHU? Do you mean AUH?

There is nightlife in Abu Dhabi, if you know where to look.

Obviously a man who has taken in by the bright lights of Dubai and who has never lived for any length of time in Abu Dhabi!

I will stay in Dubai Marina or Barsha and drive to the circuit for the three days.
