I know its not looking too great for jobs out there but still i'd be looking for the following:

- able to drink alcohol
- safe
- able to live with an unmarried partner
- a job

i work in construction and i imagine my biggest problem would be the unmarried partner bit. is this getting better in dubai now? or are there was round it?

Dubai has everything except the jobs.

Saudi has the jobs but nothing else.

Abu Dhabi's not a bad bet. Or Qatar (although not sure about living with an unmarried partner - probably ok though).

I lived in Dubai with Mrs oilydan before we married for 3 years. Loads of my mates 'live in sin'. I wouldn't worry too much about that one.

Unless you get her 'in the family way', that is definately not allowed.

As Dan said - unless you get her up the duff or piss someone off enough where they make a formal complaint about your living arrangements (very rare but the police will have to investigate and then prosecute if officialy notified)), you'll be fine - after 6yrs I've never had any concerns like that.

Suprised no one has mentioned Bahrain yet... great place, all the above is fine there, and there are a few jobs going (loads of building work going on at the moment, its becoming the new Dubai)
