It's my birthday in a couple of weeks and the gf has offered to splash out on an expensive brunch. I've only really done the 200-400dhs ones before, but hey, it's my birthday.
Can anyone give some summary reviews of the top gaffs?

Cheers.

Mina Salam in the madinat or the one at the Meridain at the airport they are the best by far I've been too. Especially the one in the Meridian...Might have been something to do with smokin hot ladies dancing on the tables then when asked not to do so decided it would have to be in the pool instead hehe

My friends loved the Meridien one, I'm yet to do a Dubai brunch - been to a few Abu Dhabi ones and they don't seem to have a 'fun' atmosphere.

Best one I have been to is the Fairmont one at the Spectrum on One. Live cooking kitchens (japanese, chinese, indian, seafood bar, cheese and cured meats room and a dessert section to die for). Oh and free flow Moet too! I used to go when it was AED300. Now they have upped the price to an eye watering AED550 but, in my opinion, it still wins the Dubai brunch war in terms of quality and variety. They are currently doing a promo where they will give you a AED100 voucher to spend at a Fairmont restaurant on your next visit. It is not a free for all which the Madinat (Al Qasr) one can be like. At around 3pm the counters look like a pretty sorry state. It is not Yalumba (the one at Le Meridien Garhoud) which is also fab but more of a party atmosphere. You get given party hats etc when you arrive - probably the best option for you since you are celebrating your birthday. The brunch at Yalumba is a mix of buffet and ordering off the menu. You can order as much as you want (you can have steak and fat chips three times if you want) for the set price - think it is around AED450.
Enjoy!

I've not been to the Fairmont, as above, but have only heard glowing reports.

Tbh - I've given up on brunches as 'something to do on a Friday'.

They ruin me for the whole weekend - no will power I suppose!

I give in for a special occasion such as a birthdy, or more recently, a leaving do hehe

I came to Dubai for me hols in Feb and went along to the Burj, not for brunch but lunch. It was an Asian style buffet and was, without question, the best food I've ever had.

I've heard good things about the Westin and the Atlantis Brunches.

My fave is Al Qasr.

The situation has gotten a little like the malls.... they all sell the same stuff from the same outlets. All the brunches do sushi/live cooking stations/seafood etc etc etc.

The way that they are starting to differentiate themselves now is with the add-ons. Like the malls with Ski slopes/ice skating/skydiving.

Some do excellent childrens entertainment, some have live artists of all descriptions, some have pissed-up tarts dancing on tables.

I want to try XII. 12 hour brunch with the option to go home for a snooze and come back later for phase 2!!

I've been to quite a few, recent trips include:

Media One - cheap as chips and free flowing booze, though none of the boys on our table ate a thing and we got thrown out pretty sharpish at the end

Al Qasr - top notch, always one of the best all rounders

Mina Salam - good fun, but shaded by Al Qasr

Westin - excellent, great in the main room for families if there are kids present, get a table in Hunters if its a mens event or, and this is my favourite, get a table in the asian restaurant if you have a balanced adult crowd. They have been getting tighter on drinking though; I had to wrangle them into getting us more cocktails and keeping topping up the bubbly from 3:30 onwards - I was there with the wife and another couple and we were hardly hanging off the light fittings. Bubbly is Laurent Perrier.

Last but not least - Traitour (sp?) at the Park Hyatt I think by the Creek Golf Club. The food is AMAZING, fresh as a daisy with an open kitchen staffed by french chefs. Service is as good as I've seen anywhere and the bubbly is Veuve Cliquot which is a favourite of mine. This place every time; voted best brunch in Dubai and rightly so.

Media One ain't bad but the service can be questionable. Saw a waiter spitting in a wine bucket there 4 weeks ago... nice!

Yalumba is overrated imo and too short.

The one at Mina as Salam is good, especially now you can just about sit outside weather wise.

Heard nothing but good reports about Al Qasr.

Warehouse I would recommend, under 400 chips but good quality and they are not shy with the drinks.

For sheer quality of food and nice surroundings try Traiteur (Park Hyatt) and Zuma (DIFC). Both are top of my list.

Holy thread resurrection, Batman!
Been to a few more brunches since I posted this. I think my favourite is still at Spectrum on One at the Fairmont.
