Heading back to UK for a week - currency exchange?

How do,
Am heading back to the UK this week for a wedding. To cut a long story short, I can only take cash rather than take money out from my UAE account while I'm there.
Does anyone know if I'd be better off getting some pounds here, or taking dirhams with me to Blighty and changing them there?
