Accomodation in Dubai

Well, looks like I am destined to be on a flight from man-dubai-lahore.

Problem is my flight into dubai arrives at 7am and departs at 10pm!

Anyone know a cheap place to stay for the day? All the places I have found are £60 plus!

£60 for a room for 15 hours seems a decent price to me, but why not check your bags in and go out for the day?

Problem is I have seen all of Dubai multiple times, so I would like to rest a bit instead. Also what can I do when all the shops shut during the day?

I have managed to book a bed in a youth hostel for £20 so hopefully it won't be too bad.

Feck, didn't know DXB even had Yoof Hostels? You know it's going to be really bad though, don't you?

I would just go to the toy shop in departures, by a little R/C helicopter and find a quiet part of the new terminal to go play! Failing that, go spend your $60 in Irish Village.

To be honest, the reviews seem to be favorable towards the youth hostel, any reason why you think it will be bad?

Because it is 20 quid.

If it was any good, even slightly good, they would be charging a fortune for it. I once paid about 70 quid for a room in a 3 star hotel and it was absolutely minging, even the 10 dollar hookers knocking on the door were disgusted. (and disgusting!)

I challenge you to take some pics of the toilet, the shower and the bed sheets to prove how nice it is.... Some pics of the building and location in general too. Let PH decide...

Let's take this back a step - what's the place called? Please can you post a link for it?

Youth Hostels can be very good value for money. They're obviously very basic, but can be clean, and often in good parts of town.

However, I still have a fair amount of skepticism about them in Dubai. It's not really a "Youth Hostel" sort of town.

I think I'd be more inclined to go to Safa Park or similar and fall asleep under a tree for an hour or two or perhaps the beach, have a nice spot of lunch somewhere, and go to the pictures. Each to their own though.

Searched around for reviews can't really find anything bad about it apart from a woman being abused in some way(luckily I am not a woman)

TBH you can get the same quality in town at a cheap hotel, rather than being out in Al Qusais industrial area.

How much will a "cheap" hotel set me back on the night of the 26th Feb?

The only option I have is the hotel reservation desk at the airport as they are usually cheaper than online, but those buggers never give you a price over the phone.

Have hatched a newish plan.

Forget youth hostel and rent a car instead.
I will be able to sleep in the car if necessary and get around and do stuff too.

Are there any tomtom maps of dubai, or will navigation be hard?
