Mrs Melv off to see a pal in Abu Dhabi in May for a week.

Any must do's/don'ts?? Recommended restaurants??

I think clothes shopping is on the list, visit some of the spectacular hotels, night visit to the desert, some desert 4x4ing......

Go for a drink pref before sunset at the revolving restaurant at the Royal Meridien (I think it's called Al Fanar). Excellent views across the Corniche. Trader Vics is also a nice place for drinks.

Breakwater (base of the big flagpole) - great views of Abu Dhabi city/corniche. Heritage village is also there.

Emirates Palace - free entry. Lots of exhibitions there right now, not sure if the Formula 1 exhibition is still there.

I hear the new souk at the Shangri-la hotel (nr Maqta Bridge) is nice but have never been there.
