Wadi Bih - access

Tried to follow Route 4 in the UAE Off Road guide a couple of weeks ago, got all the way to RAK only to be told by the border police that the route was shut. There is not much on the net highlighting this problem and the guard mentioned that the closure was indefinite and did not know when it would reopen.

Seems a pity as it is one of the best routes to experience. I gather that it is possible to enter via the Dibba end but once you reach the RAK border, you'll need to double back and head back to Dibba. Anyone tried this please and can verify it? Thanks in advance!
