Smart Roadster in Doha, Qatar
Discussion
I've got a black smart roadster back home and was initially toying with the idea of getting one for over here, but decided that a small and low roadster is just going to be fodder for the grill of a LandCruiser or Hummer out here on the mean streets of Doha. Was amazed to spot a red roadster going around (the only one in country perhaps), if you are a PHer then I salute your bravery and am very envious of the terrific handling and fun you are getting to enjoy - despite the small size the smart roadster is a really great car to drive, I miss my one back home.
Also spotted an Opel GT also known as a Saturn Sky driving around - wanted one of these but the dealership was not keen to source one for me.
My roadster back home has no AC as I stripped it for weight saving, remapped and tweaked - they are great fun - not so cool after a tesco shop and you find that the front boot and the pizza shelf of a rear boot means that you have bought more than you can actually carry. Sure you find the same with the Elise, but the smart is a lot easier to get in and out of.
Like the Caterham, is she fitted with a 2.0litre or motorcycle powered?
Yeah, the Elise was a pain to get in and out of but a brilliant car. The Caterham is actually a Dax Rush fitted with a Ford Cosworth Turbo. Both of them weren't exactly good for storage but i still managed Le Mans twice from the north of Scotland, once in an Elise and once in a Dax. Now that's a packing challenge :-)
I'm not much good at the choosing cars for space thing, just went upmarket a bit and bought a 997 CS and it's a bit like your smart for storage. Still, that wasnt why i bought it i guess :-). Come to think of it, its not an upgrade as its a damn sight slower than the Dax, more comfy but much much slower.
cheers,
