Hi all,

I swear I was told 10,000km for the first service and the car is flashing up that I have 400km to go until the service but the bint at the OPC has just told me that it is 20,000km and there is no need. Only Cayennes need a 10k service.

I'm more than happy to play safe and get a service done anyway (as I've done a few track days and drive, err... spiritedly).

Also - she said that I could reset the service message myself - how's that done?

I will double post this in the main Porsche section as well.

hehe

Personally i dont like these modern long service intervals on modern cars, no matter what it is i tend to like to take the black smelly stuff out of the engine and put some fresh black smelly stuff in at intervals of no greather than 10k km anyway .... Its a peace of mind thing for me partially due to the fact that i also tend to drive what was that word you used??? ahh yea spiritedlyhehe

Agreed mate.

So... I popped into the service centre (we only have one) in Dubai to get some Mobil 1 (16 quid for 4 litres - result!) as I need to top up now and to book it in for a quick once over and an oil change before the nect track day on the 4th April...

I ask once for the oil change - 'No sir, only needed after 20k'

I ask twice for the oil change - 'No sir, only needed after 20k''

'Can I please give you money to do an oil change. It's all I'm asking - I'll take full responsibility that it is not in the rules and that it may be alien to you but, as a Porsche customer, I WANT AN OIL CHANGE!'

'No sir, only nee........'

I gave the receptionist such a dirty look and the service staff were giggling by this point that she gave in - I will get my oil change.

Jesus!

hehe do you get blonde receptionists in Dubai??

The way i always see it is "How much did your car cost?" "How much is your car worth to you in good running condition?" and "how much does an oil change cost???"

I tend to do an oil change every 5000 KM on my old aircooler, which is exessive i know, but it costs me nothing more than a few bucks and 30 minutes of my time. every 3rd change is done by a garage and involves filters, flushing and other clever stuff biggrin
