Current UAE situation ref. masks etc
Discussion
I'll be heading back to the UAE in a couple of weeks time for the first time since all this nonsense kicked off back in 2019, I had assumed that life in the UAE would have returned to normal by now and I'd be free to attend Golf, F1 and other events without any messing about.
Can anyone on the ground advise what the actual situation is, ie: how closely are the rules followed?

I have just come back from Dubai and the only people wearing masks were restaurant/bar/service staff.
No tourist attractions, public areas, hotels, anything I saw was enforcing any mask-wearing. Neither in airports or on the aeroplane (Emirates).
I'm not a golf player but I'd be surprised if the rules were different on the golf course!

That's good news for Dubai at least... looking on the Internet the F1 may be off the menu though as it seems you might need some kind of green light on an app to enter and the green light requires a PCR test within the last 48hrs to get. I've managed to go 3 years without having to do one of those, I'm certainly not starting now lolNo tourist attractions, public areas, hotels, anything I saw was enforcing any mask-wearing. Ah OK, I've checked the rules for Abu Dhabi and yes they do look stricter:https://visitabudhabi.ae/en/plan-your-trip/covid-s...
From this page:
"It is now no longer mandatory to take a PCR test upon arrival in Abu Dhabi International Airport. However, the testing facility remains at the airport for any visitors that wish to take a PCR test to activate their Green Pass in Al Hosn app and facilitate access to Abu Dhabi's public places and tourist attractions. The cost of this PCR test is AED 40."
I get that you're not keen on doing a PCR test but they're only 40AED at available at the airport on arrival according to the above...... I mean is there any particular reason why you wouldn't want to do this? ....as you might just be making life difficult for yourself... sorry
As usual del it’s still a case of ‘it depends’ and the rules differ between Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
In the main it’s no masks (other than hospitals mosques and public transport) and completely unpoliced.
Theme parks and public events in the capital you’ need green status. Haven’t been down there in ages so dunno if it’s policed, but due to go to adipec next week so guess I’ll see.
In Dubai no such rules, went to an event at the Coca Cola arena the other week which was supposed to have checks on masks and vaccination status but there were none.

Thanks Phil, do me a favour and post back on here after you've been to adipec, I don't want to shell out for F1 tickets and then discover I can't go!In the main it’s no masks (other than hospitals mosques and public transport) and completely unpoliced.

The golf is a freebie and in dxb anyway so I'm not too worried about that!!
