Used cars - Dubai / Emirates
Discussion
Hi
I have been doing some research and looking at some potential expenses etc. I may have if/when I get a position in Dubai and one of the bigger expenses will be a vehicle.
I have been looking for an AutoTrader / PH type equivalent for the Emirates but have struggled beyond DubiCars - is there something I am missing here? Where do most people buy used vehicles?
Also, silly question, but I have been looking at rather than run a couple of cars out there, just go for something a little special with either something like a McLaren / Porsche / Ferrari / Lamborghini purchase, assuming financing works similar to in the UK / USA but is that the case?
Any guidance would be appreciated from seasoned Emirati dwellers!

dubizzle is the largest classified platform in the region. there are others as you have found, but they are minnows. dubizzle will give you the best overview of pricing and availability.
car finance is relatively new and not very evolved, a few brands offered it on new cares a while back then it disappeared. you won't find dealer finance on used cars, they'll just pass you over to the bank for a car loan. finance is the domain of the banks and terms are not exactly generous. compare the below to a UK PCP deal for example.

car loans are capped at 80% of vehicle value and have a higher %apr than a regular loan. it is very easy to obtain a regular loan to spend on a car.
tbh if you think the roads here are decent enough to warrant financing a supercar then you are sadly mistaken. also if you expect the average car dealer to be akin to the 80s UK stereotype then you won't be disappointed.
btw this area of the forum is practically dead. if you do come out, most of the active posters on here are on whatsapp groups such as dubai drives.

I spoke with a Jeep dealer about a used / demo Gladiator and he quoted 20% down min and then the rate was a shade over 8% which stacks up. The figures didn't work out too bad comparably (IMO).
I am on Dubai Drives as it happens so thats useful. Thanks
Do I take it from the nightmare interview thread that things aren’t going so well?
It’s completely standard if the personnel involved, particularly the guy who purports not to have spoken to you, is local.
DD have a very lively WhatsApp group btw, if you do end up here message them on FB to add you to it. Loads of guys in there with bronco/raptor/gladiator variants.

Haha, no that was a UK consultancy that expressed the interest (and then rudeness) in me rather than a potential ME employer thankfully! It’s completely standard if the personnel involved, particularly the guy who purports not to have spoken to you, is local.
