getting insurance on a car in the UK
Discussion
looking for some help please!
Myself and a mate are looking at getting a 'modern' classic of some description - MkII Golf, older BMW, something 'nice' but not too expensive, to use when we are back and for the annual pilgrimage to Le Mans...
However, seem to be stumped with getting an insurance quote - my UK licence is registered to my parents address, but no one seems willing to even consider insuring me...Any ideas?
Many thanks

Try http://www.keithmichaels.co.uk/ , they do the insurance for my UK car.
how about insuring it in your dad's name with an any driver policy. if kept at their place and given your very infrequent use of it surely this would be legit / not fronting?
please do come back with an update when you sort it as i am contemplating something similar.
never needed to show a uk licence for rentals btw. odd one that.

Just to update, Desert Dog's suggestion seems to be proving helpful - certainly willing to entertain looking at me, whereas everyone else has been a flat no.
Interesting idea about buying in my dad's name - have done this before, so will consider.
will update once we actually have a car!!!

Thanks Mark! will give them a try.
As to the licence, I have always kept my UK licence up to date - every time I have hired a car they have wanted to see a UK licence...
I have been using my UAE license when hiring in the UK for years with no issues at all. In fact, the story goes that once you become non UK resident, your UK license become invalid (or words that effect)..
