Swapping UK for UAE driving license

Anyone done this recently? I did this back in 2007 when I first came to the UAE, but my license has since expired. I've got the latest photo-only UK license. Do I still need to get the eye test, photos etc. to get the UAE one?

I'm now on an Abu Dhabi visa, so not sure if I have to go there to do it, or whether I can head to the Bur Dubai Police Station (next to Tasjeel/MOE) and do it there.

Any pointers much appreciated.

My Missus was in the same situation AD visa old DXB licence, did the renewal at al manara rta center

Got around to sorting this today (been away for 3 weeks). Simple 5minute process at the excellent all-government-services-under-one-roof Al Manara centre.

Just needed a fresh ‘eye test’ and pass over a few hundred dhs and new license secured - now only valid as long as my Emirates ID is.
