Hi all

My car, which I am selling, is up for registration renewal on 27 July. There is a potential buyer interested. I know that when you buy a car, it has to be inspected.

If he buys before 27 July, I presume the RTAwill inspect it and then he is responsible for registration renewal . Would he have to get it inspected again on 27 July?

If I renew the registration now by myself, if he does buy it in the next week or so, will they insist on another inspection? Or will the RTA take account of the one that they had only done a few days prior?

Cheers

You get a month's grace anyway, hence the 13 months insurance, I'd eat into that.

My understanding is that you have to have the car inspected as "for sale" irrespective of when the annual inspection is done. The "for sale" certificate is valid for 1 month.

When you buy a car, that is a new registration, so no need to then renew.

The new owner will get 12+1 months registration from the sale date.
