We are moving to a new villa (in The Villa) on 1 June.

It has previously been lived in but currently empty. No power or water.

The LL has agreed to clean, service the A/C and pool etc before we move in but if there is no DEWA, how would this be done? Would they connect in their name, do it, and then we take over the DEWA?

The agent was super responsive until getting the broker fee upon contract signing now tumbleweeds!

Cheers

I had to connect my Dewa then the landlord had it "cleaned" just before the tenancy contract properly kicked in. We weren't moving in on the day of contract start anyway.

Be prepared that your perception of clean and theirs will be wildly different. We ended up having it completely recleaned anyways.

Probably not the answer others will give but I'm not sure you could just transfer a Dewa account as you would need to go and provide ID and passport copies and whatnot.

Thanks - the "cleaning" will probably be rubbish so planned to redo it. What I am keen to avoid is finding the power, pool or A/C does not work or that (if I connect the DEWA now) they use the tap to fill the pool!

The new place is 1 June and old place is 15 June so there is an overlap where we still have the 'original' place but given that we have paid to effectively get them to sign now and then fix/do everything, the &*^*^& will hit the fan if they don't do it.

Stress!! Bangs heads etc...but likely we have all experienced the same!

A few hours with a Karcher, chainsaw and other manly PH type things should have it in order. Will have 7 weeks while the family are O/S to do bits and pieces to it. I do wonder about some people and being like animals - we have left our places in better condition when we leave than when we moved in.

Meant to ask - any recommendations on a cleaning company?

My idea of buying 100 litres of bleach, walking upstairs and kicking them over and coming back in 2 days once it had made its way downstairs was not well received.

The carports are a lot narrower than in the Ranches too but will be downsizing to just the one car anyway as the poor Cadillac no longer gets driven

It's pretty typical to get the cleaning done after you have connected to DEWA. My suggestion is to ensure you get an extension in writing from the landlord so that you get 'credit' for the days that you paid rent but didn't move in, at least when it comes time for the renewal.
