Simple Maintenance Items........
Discussion
When I say simple, not simple enough for me to want to get involved and do myself, but last service my wife was advised her car needed brake pad replacement, and new battery. I was away on business, and she said she would speak to me before she booked it in.
I admit I can't really be arsed to check the pads, although if bored over the weekend I may take a look.
However the battery is simple, and I stuck a multimeter on it last night, and it is fine. Also never had any issues with battery to date. So this won't be replaced, and has got my back up a bit, and I don't really want to give the car to dealer (Chevrolet) to do the pads, if this is how they are going to act. I think it was AED 1000 cost - for pads all round, fitted. I am used to haemorrhageing money over here now, so I thought "That's not too bad!".
So what do you guys (that can't be arsed to do yourselves) do for consumables like this? Main Dealer, or Local independent?
If the latter, who do you recommend?

How old is the battery? they really dont last long over here, esp if they sit in the engine bay. as I'm sure you are aware. However, if you are confident that its holding charge and still is strong.
I've happily replaced batteries every 2 years now, just because you know they arent going to last much longer, and I know it will fail, when I'm not around!
Pads, I do myself, but 1000dhs doesnt sound terrible to be honest. I dont think you will save a lot by going elsewhere.
