Need a couple of tubs of something like Isopon P40 glass fibre compound. Used to be a Yellowhat in Timeshare which is probably the nearest equivalent to Halfords I've seen here but its closed down.. Any ideas?

YH in times square closed, the one in Nadd al Hamar is still there. However i'd give one of the boat shops in Al Jadaf a shot first.

Cheers.. thumbup Wondered if they had gone completely out of business as I'd always used Times Square and suddenly when I really needed it they were not there..

Don't suppose you know of a mobile trailer fixing service thats reliable do you? I ideally could do with a 6 foot section of aluminium tubing bonded to the current one..

For alloy welding saluki, but is not mobile as there welding kit is 3 phase you probably need to flat bed the trailer. or try and find one of the smaller al quoz metal fabricators we often have welders on site to make adjustments to architectural metal work

are you bonding ally to GRP? you can buy mat, resin etc. in jadaf, or i'm sure if you towed it up there and asked around you'd find someone to do it for you.

Its for a launch trolley so not really suitable to tow. The existing axels are fubarred and jammed into ally mounts to which they have bonded galvanically. So the simplest thing is to cable tie then bond with P40 the new axels to the old housing. I'd prefer to put in a new tube housing for the new axels but thats proving to be a pain in the proverbial. The axels don't need to rotate; new wheels have hubs and bearings.

For the trailer, another recommendation of Saluki. Robbie modified a trailer for my motocross bike. Excellent job done, for a reasonable price.

take photos, go see robbie. he can sort the frame and there is a boatbuilder on the same street they can sub the GRP work to if required. much better than cable ties and bondo. i imagine if its too big to tow [will it go on a trailer?] then it'll be a pig to manouvre loaded up if not done right.

surely in the current weather you could sail to al quoz?

Hadn't thought of Saluki, cheers.. thumbup Will give them a call..

I reckon it would take three times the time to get a low loader and get it to and from Robbie than to actually fix the dam thing in situ.. That said, I've had a couple of guys already promise to come and sort it and never turn up hence I thought I'd bodge the job temporarily.

I seem to have bought the floating equivalent of a TVR as nothing is standard or quite the size I was thinking it would be.. Rather not use the boat for the time being though as a 7.5m carbon fibre mast would be asking for trouble. Has been excessively moist here of late though..
