Weekend getaway from Dubai
Discussion
Hello all,
Looking for ideas where I can take the Mrs for a long weekend in a couple of weeks. Had a st time with health issues the past few months so she could do with a break providing she gets the all clear. Only likely to have 4 days off work, so nothing long haul, but if anyone has any good suggestions please feel free to share.
Thanks in advance

Muscat is nice and a lot more chilled than Dubai. I've stayed at the Grand Hyatt a couple of times and for a chain, (I usually avoid as I find them too impersonal) its good.
Not been to Salalah yet, but I know a couple of people who loved it. Sri Lanka also gets a solid thumbs up and is on my list of places to go. Various Indian Ocean islands aren't too far away too..

Kathmandu
Seychelles
Maldives
Sri Lanka
Goa ( need a visa in advance or UK)
Maldives
Cyprus (might be a bit cold at the mo)
Tbilisi Georgia for a city break
Transylvania Romania - hire a car from airport and head for the mountains - just stunning
All about 5 or 4 hours away
If you want to stay local and drive then we really enjoyed these:
Cove Rotana (not much of a beach but lovely setting)
Banyan Tree at the beach in RAK
Rotana at fujairah
Bab al shams is really nice just to chill out for a few days

Check out Ziggy Bay on the East coast.
It's rather nice.
But as above, there's plenty of other options within four hours. Sri Lanka is lovely, nice and clean and the road infrastructure is improving so it's easier to get around.
Seychelles is obviously lovely and the same time zone too so zero lag.

A bit late to the party, but another vote for Sri Lanka.
We stayed in Galle, on a lovely tea plantation.

Highly recommended. Couples only - no children.

Have you tired Al Maha desert resort in dubai?
Doesn't feel one bit like Dubai. Amazing staff, great food, service is excellent. Private villa, private infinity pool, trees surrounding the villa, and it's a nature conservation park too, so full of gazelle and Oryx, they happy roam around the villa/pool throughout the day.
Well worth trying if it's a short stay/weekend with minimal travelling.
