So, our Jeep Wrangler has been covered with cement spots from the friendly local building site.

These have been on the car for a few weeks now and as we've been busy, we've not got around to getting them removed.

My question; what's the best process to remove these and the best place to get this done?

I'm hesitant of giving it to ABC in Barsha (or whatever it's called) or Yellow Hat (or similar) to use the orbital polisher as I fear they'll just pull the cement off and whirl it around the rest of the paint work. Is there a chemical clean process for the car to go through first which will remove the spots before it then goes in for a polish?

TIA.

Don't know if it will work but have you tried spraying some WD40 and then washing off with a hose

It amazes me what it can actually be used for, half of which was probably never intended

Cement is alkaline so acid makes sense chemically - lemon juice or vinegar.

Not great for the paint though...

Yup don't get it polished, will only damage the paint.

White vinegar will be your best bet, water it down a bit first and if doesn't work use it neat, depending how many cement spots you have this could however be very time consuming. Don't cover the full car in vinegar and do not allow it to dry on the paint at all but you need to allow it to soak into the cement for it to be effective, wash off quickly once applied.

Do not try it in direct sunlight or ideally not in midday heat even in the shade.

Would Goo Gone help (citrus based orange stuff) - see http://googone.com/Home.aspx

It works a treat on getting rid of sticker residue (normally the dealership's plastic logos stuck to the car!)
