Hi All

I booked a holiday in Dubai for May next year earlier on.

I have been before a few years ago so am aware of the local customs etc but since then I have had two full sleeves tattooed.

I am a little concerned about the one image - attached below!

Will I be okay in general with this if I wear long sleeve shirt / tshirts whilst out and about, what about at the pool / beach?

Any feedback / advice will be greatly appreciated!

Last time I went to Saudi many years ago (the only time I've been) I had a copy of Loaded (those were the days, eh...) anyway at customs they told me I could either go through it with a marker pen and scribble out all the naked female flesh or they'd just dispose of it... I said they could have it, I'd read most of it. Colleague later told me they probably took it in the back room and had a furious group wk over it... Point being, I hope this doesn't happen to your arm!

Fred's idea isnt the world's worst, to be honest. Ten minutes with a sharpie, drawing a Burkha on the nice lady, and no problems all week. You might want to take the sharpie for touchup. In fact, can any of our resident photoshop types show you what it might look like?

Keep your sleeves covered whilst in public (i.e. out and about) and you'll be fine. At the beach/pool, things are a bit more relaxed nowadays, considering the amount of tramp-stamped swamp-donkeys I see wallowing around. At any rate, you're unlikely to find yourself in an environment where the locals may also be sunbathing, so you have little to worry about. The UAE is far more relaxed than its immediate GCC neighbours.

As always, use a bit of common sense.

Don't worry about it.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi these days are only beaten by Essex when it comes to seedy, chavvy, council behaviour. For sure - I wouldn't advise you go on a daytrip to the grand mosque and start showing all the emiratis the pair of tits on your arm.

But honestly... much worse goes on here without an eyelid batted, behave as you would anywhere else in the world and you'll be fine.

...And that's just the locals!

David Lloyd the cricket commentator summed it up pretty well during a previous visit to Dubai...

"I'm surrounded by Brasses and can't get a bet on! Place is Mad."
