The Golf R has gone...an all round hero car. Brilliant balance, pace and feel good factor.

I decided to get another V8 coupe (last one was a 4 speed auto Monaro back in 2013) and test drove a manual Mustang GT and manual Challenger SRT. Bit of a no brainer on financial grounds - the Ford was not only cheaper but still had more warranty and a decent wedge of service contract.

...and it has dealer fitted Roush exhaust and cold air intake that make it sound very antisocial.

Gearbox agricultural. Brakes soft and woollen. Seats offer almost zero lateral support. Steering on my son's Cozi Coupe has more feel. Exhaust sounds like Ride of the Valkyries. The display on my microwave is more advanced. But it has bags of character and 420bhp...

There are corners here??

Nice OP, I'm 7 years and over 120k kms into a 2006 GT, costs me buttons to run, genuinely don't know what to replace it with.

Congrats! i'm convinced American muscle or luxury german big barges is the way to go here! i got the challenger SRT about 2 years ago and keep thinking about changing it, but as dxbtiger says, i haven't got clue what else i'd go for!

Thanks gents, it's great to manually mash through the gears again after a few years of autos, except in traffic...

It's true the Golf would run rings around the Mustang but I couldn't resist the allure of having a >400bhp RWD coupe sat on the drive!
