Hello folks.

I've gone and bought a 2007 997 turbo and although mechanically the car is a1 the fact the interior is almost 9yrs old it's really starting to show its age.

Can anyone recomend a place or someone in DXB that can bring plastics up to their former glory? There are some scratches around handbrake lever, gear selector and around the door handles and scuff plates.

The leather is actually ok with no tares but it could do with little lift.

Any recommendations appreciated

Hey,

Thanks for the quick reply. I did look at these guys but funnily enough the parts in looking for are only in carbon and I'm trying to avoid the £500+ a piece option. I don't even know of any 997's that a re breaking. Problem with getting them over here is that my car has a very rare interior colour. Black.

the pieces on your car are carbon or the ones you can see online are carbon?

if the former, i know a carbon guy who could sand and re-laquer your trim. if the latter, i doubt that as porsche will still hold stocks of parts for non-current models.

i'd source direct from europe or the US rather than naboodah. their markup will be several times what it should cost and will take ages to get to dubai.

Also try Australia if you cannot locate the colour - not sure if the LHD/RHD parts are interchangeable but some of them could be. Not sure what the prices are like but may be (most likely!) cheaper than here.

Was in a 911TT back at a Sporting Bears event in the UK a few years back - my goodness, they went like stink!

There is a current silver one that parks in my office car park - looks brilliant

My parts are black and the ones on the website only come in carbon. I might have to look into sourcing from another country whilst on my travelsif I can't get parts here. Are there porsche breakers in DXB?
It's a silly fast car. It's great! Went out to find a gen 2 Carrera S and the turbo was on offer for same price.

A friend of mine used these guys http://www.mrcap.com/ for his 2008 997 and was really chuffed. They polished up his steering wheel and lots of other areas, and made them as good as new. The interiors of 997s do seem to suffer after a few years.

He couldn't recommend them enough, and dealt with the owner (forgotten his name, but he is an Arab).

Cheers

The alternative is to have the scuffed plastics resprayed in the body colour - I had this done by ARM on a 996 turbo. Really lifted a tired interior.

have you actually tried a porsche dealer [NOT uae]? they should still be able to provide these parts.

also maybe post in the porsche forum on here.

I have the same with my 997 c4s. It's surprising how much the plastics and other interior items wear. My car is tan inside so finding replacement plastic and leather parts from eBay etc back home is hard as it's a rare colour in Europe. mine is in pretty good condition, theres just a few areas that let it down a bit like wear on the small leather areas next to the door pulls and the plastic surround by the gear leaver. Al nabroda are pretty good at getting the plastic parts, even for older models in unusual colours. They got me a new coat hook (the one above the seats, in the right colour with no issue). I'd love to know how to get the leather wear on the doors sorted. I asked arm about it but they didn't know anywhere.

Hi mate. Matt here with the 996 turbo - we've been in touch through 911 UK forum. I have been going through the same thing. Many of the interior plastics are black plastic that has been sprayed with what I'd describe as a slightly harder version of plasti-dip, which gets scratched really easily.

Options are to try and source new trims from Porsche but this is hugely expensive. ARM can respray interior, it is advertised on their website as being 3500aed. Ace Hardware actually stock loads of aerosol cans for spraying plastics so you could try and see if they have a suitable colour match. I'm looking into doing this at the moment.

Alternatively, I have found a place in the states that can supply paint matched to porsche interior colours, as well as leather dyes. The problem with buying paints from them is that they can't ship aerosol cans only tins of paint. You'd then need the paint spraying kit or you could supply the paint to a local body shop. Pm if you want the details.
