Hi all,

Have recently applied for a job with Emirates in a head office department.

They've advised it can take up to 6 weeks for a response but only if I make it through to the next stage. To receive no response at all seems rather strange for a professional role, unless I took it as being a grade above what they think it is?

Unfortunately, all of my contacts at Emirates are pilots, rather than anyone in head office or HR.

Anyone been through the same or have a little more knowledge? Does it take the full 6 weeks to hear back if successful?

I am aware things out in UAE can be a little different but nonetheless, a long waiting period without a definitive answer until the end makes things a little more unsettling!

Thanks in advance!

I work for part of the Emirates group, and things move on a geological timescale

Depending on the job they will get 100's of applicants, take a look on LinkedIn and it will show how many people have applied, thats usually about a tenth of the applicants

I doubt if you will hear anything back before the closing date

I would offer to send your CV but it probably would not do any good, feel free to PM me

Good luck

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the advice. I can imagine that this role may have a fair few people applying for it, unfortunately there wasn't any indication on the careers portal that indicated what grade of a position it is.

As for the time scale, the closing date for applications was the end of September. As I was away prior, only managed to put in my application a few days prior to the closing date. Hopefully this doesn't mean I've been overlooked completely!

Thank you for the offer. If you don't mind, I'll probably shoot you across a PM IF I get through to the next stage, especially if you've been through the interview process etc before. At the moment though, I'm not holding much hope due to the number of applicants but hey ho, onward and upward!

Hi All,

Ultimately did not hear back from Emirates, which was rather disappointing as it seemed like quite an interesting role.

I've not yet given up thoughts of working out in the UAE, mainly due to my current age and freedom.

Don't suppose anyone works or knows someone that works in the insurance industry out there that they'd be able to put me in touch with? It seems as if the main job boards only advertise roles which are for health/employee benefits or those which are tied to IFA style roles (from what I've heard, dressed up sales people?), whereas I work in a commercial insurance capacity for a broker.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
