Organised a couple of days car hire with Jacky's - ended up with Budget, a Nissan Sunny for the Princely sum of AED 270. All fine.

I need to extend the hire by another two days. Called Budget and they'd have to charge me the full 'Desk Rate' of AED 275 per day. Sod that.

So I've just done another booking for the same car etc.. and it's come to AED 225 for the two days.

So I'll drop this car off tomorrow next door at the Warwick hotel, we then go through all the palava of taking this car back and then they have to start again from scratch and give me another car.

Daft.

In the UK, National charged me 102 pounds for 7 days rental of a Peugeot 3007, which I thought was a cracking price.

"oh, I need a car seat as well" I said,

"107 pounds" they replied

"5 pounds for a child seat for a week?!?! Bargain I'll take it" I said

"No, no, it's 107 pounds for the car seat" they replied

"You're telling me its 102 pounds to hire the car and 107 for the child seat?"

"Yep".

Bought a seat from Toys R Us next door for 50 quid and sold it to my cousin for 40 when I left.

Mental.

I recall landing in the US and being offered SatNav rental. I think it was 70 bucks a week. I was there for two weeks.
You could buy the unit in a supermarket for about 100 bucks....
