Asking for chassis number.

Selling the car and someone has texted me saying they're interested, would like to view the car but would like to know the chassis (VIN) number first - I've not been asked this before.

Is it a safe thing to do?

I'm ignorant here - is there a scam where they can re-register it, or something?

Nationality and location of enquiry?

They might be using CarFax to check on the cars history. Jason or Phil might be able to provide more info.

I find that normal may want to check the history or see if it is an US import.

Relatively normal these days, they may also be looking to export it and the chassis is needed to check tax/vat rates of import on some countries before they take cars.
