Ok, shame, 100% certain a Volvo isn't on her list of potentials unfortunately.
We're to test drive a Grand Cherokee and Ford Edge this weekend apparently.
No worries, we are one of the minor brands out here! We're to test drive a Grand Cherokee and Ford Edge this weekend apparently.
Two cars your driving are very different however so hopefully should be easy to say yes prefer that one over that one.

Yup full Bluetooth, music streaming, rear sensors and rear camera, panoramic roof, active xenons, integrated child booster seats, actually a very good spec for the price and European safety standards.Bluetooth (for phone) and rear parking cameras?

Engine is T5 240hp 2.0 turbo.
When will you launch the new XC90 here?
This is your one chance to get it right. Make the spec perfect. It has to have big wheels, nice suspension and smatterings of tasteful chrome. Dont bring small wheeled cheap looking cars (ie make the same mistake as Jaguar MENA).
Price it at no more than AED 240k..and they should fly out. It also has to have a 5 year warranty and service pack and needs to have those ridiculous 9k kms service intervals removed.

Spec is almost full was only a few omissions, wheels were actually hard to source to start as they would have caused delays in delivery, mid option has 19's and higher option 20's from launch. Huge rims aren't top of most families shopping lists, R-Design will follow start of next year and im sure they will have a decent size wheel fitted.
Priced at 265k and 295k respectively, first two shipments are totally sold without anyone seeing it.
Service intervals are being rectified but I cant put it in writing until its confirmed internally.

Funnily- large wheels and good spec does seem to be an absolute priority over here. Look at every X5, ML, Q7. They are nearly always on 20" or 21" and massively speced.
Will be interesting to see if the pricing works- I guess you are a 99pc expat driven business and so will not compete with the Patrol which is the No1 vehicle at the moment. But it sounds well priced albeit a huge jump from the existing cars.
I saw the car in Germany a few weeks ago and it looks great- so good luck with it.

I was unfortunate enough to own an R Design for my wife here for a while.. horrible thing.. killer was the servicing cost and the parts prices- it made the car uneconomic to run in the end as the parts were 150pc more expensive than europe. Add in servicing to keep the warranty alive and I was paying 600 GBP every 6 months. Totally ridiculous. I changed it for a 2 year old BMW 5 with a service pack and it worked out cheaper overall (incl purchase cost, depcn, service etc).

600GBP a service is a bargain compared to what I hear from customers about servicing BMW, Merc, Audi and Range Rover outside of warranty, however people only mention the bad points never the cheaper services of course. Other halfs just done a 60k service on a Merc SLK200 that was 720GBP when converted and it was a routine service.Funnily- large wheels and good spec does seem to be an absolute priority over here. The new car is getting fantastic reviews from every angle of the motoring press so hopefully it is as a good as they say. It will sit in a slightly different market segment to typical X5/X6, ML and Q7 customers which so far we have received very few requests for wheels being bigger than 20' and as the first two shipments are totally sold then it doesn't seem to be putting people off.
Pricing was always going to be a huge change from the old car which was still at a 13 year old price point, the germans like to change every 4-5 years and put in reasonable size price increases over time so a new model doesn't look a big jump up.
The Patrol/Lexus LX business I would guess will be a totally different type of buyer, however we have had the odd customer in with them interested to change, but it wont be a competitor for that type of car. Hopefully it does open the brand/model to a wider range of customers which we have seen so far.
