Bit of a long shot but thought worth posting here.

After putting her career on hold until the kids started school, my wife is now looking to return to work. She is also lawyer and spent a number of years in-house when we lived in London.

I gather that a number of PH'ers in this neck of the desert work within companies so I would be very grateful if could let me know if you see any legal roles pop-up on your intranet.

She does not speak Arabic but is qualified as a lawyer in the UK and in Australia; started out as a commercial litigator then moved to an in-house role covering commercial, employment, contracts and procurement to name but a few areas (very typical of an in-house role, and particularly where she was).

I can of course give more details and information via email.

She has been looking in the usual places and avenues but it increasingly seems the case that contacts and referrals are equally the way to go.

Many thanks in advance!

Chilli

My gut feeling is she'll struggle for an in-house role unless she takes quite a step back with no regional experience.

Arabic isn't so much of a necessity these days depending on how good their Junior legal / paralegal is on the technical side, certainly in Dubai anyway, AD is still a bit backwards in that regard.

Tell her to speak to the guy that runs the legal team at Robert Walters (he's a UK qualified lawyer himself), also maybe Sami at Mcgregor Boyall although she is mainly legal into FS I think, Robert Half might be worth a shout as well, not sure who runs their legal team these days.

She could see all 3 in a day, all within 1km of each other round difc.

Doing a year or two at private practice might be a short term option to get local market experience to be honest, a lot of people were are looking to make the PP to in-house switch, up until the end of 2014 anyway
