Velocitas dropped his newly acquired R8 around last Wednesday evening to try bring the paint back to life.

I wanted to do a stage by stage set of pictures however once I got the car properly washed I realised how bad the paint actually was and regrettably time to get pictures in between stages was not going to be possible, will also apologise I didn't get time to get any decent pictures.

When the car was dropped round it had a definite grey dull sheen to it:

Once got the car washed realised how bad the paint actually was, had taken a quick look a few nights before however some areas had more damage than realised, notably the bonnet and the boot lid:

As per the owners request to have a go at the leather inside too I gave it a quick wash down first with clean warm water a new cloth, this was the results of purely washing the leather seats, door cards and dash, quite surprising considering the dealer had cleaned the car about a week earlier:

Managed to get under the front of the car cleaned up and the dull plastic brought back to life:

The final pics before it left me, again apologies on the lighting, but hopefully shows its actually back to a black colour with a decent shine:

Was a good experience all round, the R8 has some intricate details which it would have been good to have had more time to work with but unfortunately the paint took a lot longer than expected to get anywhere near right.

Looks really nice, great job. The before state is pretty much the same as my 997 at the moment. A few more trips to the car wash place and it's going to end up Matt smile

Yeah the R8 was effectively matt black with a hint of grey, once id flattened the paint it was matt grey, fortunately Velocitas didn't see it in that state as even my back end was twitching a bit as to if it would come back to black!

Car wash really is best avoided, if you can, does no end of damage!!

How much do you charge to the inside and out?

It purely depends on the car and what the owner wants to achieve from the paint, the R8 was just purchased by the owner and I could have easily achieved the same results in a few hours as opposed to two days but once the car had been washed 3-4 times it would have looked the same as before I started. Its easy to mask over imperfections in the paint but takes time to correct them.

Im more than happy to take a look at a car and have a discussion with the owner about requirements and see what they want to achieve from the work done, the paint can be corrected in a few ways or the appearance simply just improved.

Will send you a PM and if you have any further questions just let me know.

Thanks again mate, it looked fantastic when I picked it up. beer

I didn't even know the alloys were grey - I always thought they were black. I even bought it a car cover on the way home but I've been having too much fun driving it to be arsed putting it on overnight so right now it's back to dusty grey but at least I know there's a shiny car underneath

No worries at all thanks for the comments, careful with the cover on a dusty car can damage the paint.

Or more to the point keep driving and enjoying and don't use the cover!!
