Hi all,

Has anyone had any experience with personally importing tyres?

I've found the tyres I need at tyreleader.co.uk at a price that is way less than anyone here can or tirerack.com can get even close to. Even if I have to pay a few hundred quid to import them I'd still be quids in by some way.

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm not in a huge rush so even sea freight is an option. Anyone know if it is possible to bring them through customs etc?

Thanks,

Matt

I bought tyres from tyreleader and they were delivered within 48 hours for free from Germany, nothing to pay.

i read that for australia but i think that was down to local competition law. made in australia by australians for australians bks.

in any case they don't answer my emails even though it says email for international shipping quote.

tyre leader don't do my tyres though, balls.

Your best bet is to access tirerack from a laptop rather than tablet and wait for the 'live chat' thingy to become available. Once speaking to someone there ask them about shipping out here. I was quoted $350 for 4x18" tyres.

anyone had any luck? pneus online won't deliver outside europe. just sent a begging letter to tyre leader. tire rack are still ignoring me.

annoying as elise parts have them and will deliver, but they're twice the price of the two suppliers listed above.

who is the yokohama importer for dubai?

OP did you get any further with this?

finally got a quote from tire rack. $280 shipping bringing my total to $815 or a shade under AED3000. can't see that being bettered locally, just waiting on a response from MSW before i go ahead.

No, didn't get anywhere. Seems tirerack have a special rate set up with FedEx which makes them much cheaper than any other option.

well msw can't supply and the yoko dealer also don't have them. RRP is almost £700 so still a sizeable saving, i've just placed my order with tire rack, lets see how long they take to arrive.

if you need a quote just email ben@tirerack.com, he's been very helpful especially as they have to verify card details for all overseas orders.
