I have seen a lot of negatives about car dealers on here since I started looking at this forum.

However I have a good news story for a change. Recently bought a new Camaro from Al Ghandi, and when washing the car a couple of weekends ago, I noticed a big scratch on the bonnet:-

I have no idea how it occurred. Seems a very strange spot for it to have happened from a stone chip, or vandalism, and me and my wife had no idea how of any incident that caused it. I also never noticed it when I picked the vehicle up. Admittedly I did pick it up very quickly after work one night, and probably did not check over fully, but I think I would have noticed it.

Anyway a quick call/email to Al Ghandi. Explained the situation - did not put the blame on them, as I have no proof the car came like it. Also explained I was not sure that the car did not come like it! So I just explained I did not want to get in a debate in if it was caused by them or by us, but I would like them to fix it for the best price they can.

Car dropped off on agreed date. Kept for 24 hours. Collected - fully repaired (to a good standard), with no cost to us.

Fair play to them. Very impressed with the service.

Same colour as my Camaro - good choice.

I have been having cars serviced at Al Ghandi, continuously, since early 2009 and I have to admit, I have never had any major issues with them. Yes, I have argued over servicing costs and the cost to repair/replace parts, but never had a real bad issue after which I have said "I will never buy another car from them again"

While we're at it, Ali & Sons (Abu Dhabi OPC) are very good. It says a lot that I choose to go to the bother of sending my car there on a flatbed from Dubai for servicing instead just going to Al Quoz.... I'm guessing having a German workshop manager might be the difference..

My car is a Ford Pickup. What are the issues? Would this be Al Tayer related?

I think your paint damage looks like it is related to having the windscreen wipers 'up' off the windscreen when the bonnet has been lifted.

Nice car :-)

They made it worse. Issues started when on its first service, 10,000kms, they had to change front brake disks and pads claiming this was normal wear. They downhill after that.

I think the same - and I know I have never lifted the bonnet. However I had no way of proving it. Fair play to them, they fixed it regardless.

Strange. I am very heavy on the brakes, and the car is just coming round to 30,000kms. I expected a horror story last service with regards to pads, and disks. However they gave me the measurements and the pads are only approx 25% used. Disks were fine. Nothing else to report thankfully with issues - apart from Sat Nav sporadically does not start. A quick restart of the engine and all is ok.

Only thing they said was they advised replacing all tyres. When I queried this, they could not justify the "advice". Still on original tyres as well.

Nissan are particularly good at suggesting new tyres also, for some reason the depth measurements are always identical front to back but its a rear drive car, everytime I question it they give me a different reason for all 4 tyres wearing at the same rate.

best i've heard to date was toyota suggesting to a colleague that she needed all new calipers on her just-out-of-warranty FJ cruiser.

I had a customer complaint last Saturday, sat at my desk comes to see me to put in a complaint that when he drives his wheels get dirty, I must admit I genuinely thought it was a complete wind up so kind of laughed. Customer didn't find it amusing, about 20minutes of discussing the same topic my patience pretty much expired.
