I have just realised I have lost my UAE license while back in the UK over Christmas. Has anybody had to replace their license at any point - and how much of a pain in the arse is it? Best place to go, how many copies of my passport etc. Any help or advice before I drive round Dubai getting turned away by the RTA would be great.

Cheers, Craig

hi craig,

i've done this before, its a faff but easily done somewhere like barsha police/rta admin centra as they are next door to each other.

first you need to report it to the police. they'll charge you a knowledge fee [50-60dhs] and give you a bit of paper. you then go to the rta with said paper and they'll issue a new licence. there's a fee but again it's not much. you will need copies of passport/visa/EM ID.

All done and dusted and surprisingly fairly hassle free. Went to RTA centre in Barsha, told them i'd lost my license, took a number, waited 10 mins, paid 120 dirhams and got a new license. Cheers Shirt
