Honda Accord Coupe 3.5 vs Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8
Discussion
Hey all,
I think I've whittled it down to one of the following cars:
Honda Accord Coupe 3.5 vs Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8
Both top specs... probably 2nd hand for both. (Accord seems to be around 105k and Hyundai around 85k...)
Any suggestions from you experts on either choice? Or another option that I may not have thought of?
Thanks everyone!

personally that sounds a tough choice, along the lines of which would i rather have - a punch in the face or a kick in the nuts?
out of the 2 the genesis is rwd and can be specced with a 6spd manual, so that'd be the less painful option.
i take it you want a 4 seater coupe which is reliable, cheap to maintain and more of a cruiser than a sports car. i'd look at an infiniti g37 coupe as its based on the nissan 370z platform but softer and more luxurious inside than the honda or hyundai. nissan's v6 is a great engine as well.
personally i'd be looking at a 6series coupe as i really can't believe how cheap they are. maybe a bit more to service but a good independent will see you right. my other choice would be a dodge challenger. there's a 2012 on sale at the moment with the 5.7l engine for under 80k. tons of space, nice and wafty, simple and cheap to fix. manual v8 muscle car FTW.

Yeah I'm looking for something with a bit of grunt but is relatively practical. It's not to be used for racing etc, just a fun drive around.
I would like something relatively new (<2 years ideally) and cheap to maintain hence the far east cars I've mentioned.
I would think the Infinity is out of my price range but is a lovely car so I will keep this in mind.
Personally not a big fan of American cars so have to discount the dodge. 6 series is out of my price range unless I go for a very old one with high mileage and don't really fancy that.
Overall, thanks for your comments, I will add the Infinity to my potential list!
Have a good Xmas.

I had a Genesis Coupe 3.8 and it was an excellent car.
If you can look past the badge and slightly cheap interior, its a flipping great car. Sounds really well, handles good (RWD & LSD), stops well (brembos) and looks good, particularly the side and rear (front is a bit steady).
Out of the two, I guess the Honda will be better on a day to day basis but the GC will offer more thrills.
Heres mine

however i just checked the prices of nissan 370z's. these are 130k new so comfortably in your price and age range second hand.
also manual 2013 gt86's can be had for as low as 60k which is obsceney cheap.

never driven a 370z but imho a much better proposition than a genesis.
with the sales coming up i reckon you could get a brand new gt86 under budget. no idea what they list at but i was in the toyota showroom the other week and the TRD model was 125k driveaway.
just not sure i'd have one in auto. personally an auto needs some power and torque behind it to make sense.

The 370Z is a good drivers car that you can put up with everyday, however it is ridiculously impractical, if you need any element of carrying capacity or space for journeys its not a car to go with. Its perfectly comfortable to drive but past that its not much use as an every day car regrettably.shirt said:
That looks very well put together, not normally into modified stuff but quite like that.A lot of my UK mates seriously drift and all have given up running tuned RB's, Jeek who owns drift land has just scrapped there fleet of skyline drift school cars as to many engines go bang.
A stock RB with a little boost is OK but a Nissan patrol bottom end with a gtr head, unless it was built in japan by a top tuner it is a very expensive mixture of parts.
Also with that car what are the chances of a non wasta RTA

That G37 is sick , id definately invest as a toy / drift car ,
shame the RB is getting old now so it can be a big money problem if it has issues.
To fill your brief id definately go with 370z/ G37 / F86
Fun cars and great value for money ,
Honday is a bit pipe and slippers , good car but not sporty. Hyundai is unknown id want to drive it and feel the quality before making a decision.
