Insurance for Classic Car

I have been trying to get insurance for the Fulvia here in Dubai but not having much luck.

Last year I was with Methaq Takaful but they seem to be trying their best to avoid paying customers - I have been sending them emails and calling them for a week with no response.

Nasco quoted 5k which is insane for third party only.

AXA/RSA refusing to quote for a 42 year old car.

I know there have been a few threads on this over the years but I wondered if anyone has insured anything old recently and can give me some recommendations?

I've got my MG with RSA third party only but I normally have to shout at them.

good luck with that. i emailed them, filled in and sent their online quote request and even PM'd the owner through here [he's a Pher]. no response through any medium.

Managed to get through to a good guy at AIG who has sorted me out. Can PM the details if anyone needs them.

Now I just need to get the car to the ATC in Al Qussais for the inspection!

Why are you going the Dubai classic route rather than a normal plate

AIG seem very good but you need to have a certain level of assets under their cover. IIRC car has to be worth 350k or you have combined insured assets of above 500k.

Canfield I think we saw each other in DAS the other day, I was the scruffy oik who turned up with Heiki's coffee.

Jason, car is RHD and has a cage and a few other mods so classic reg is the only option (very) unfortunately. Will send the details for AIG though.

Shirt, that's the deal I had to commit to but there seems to be some flex on the numbers, I didn't meet all the criteria. Do say hi if you are at DAS again or see the car about.

Hopefully all will be worth it and I get to do some Christmas motoring, now without leaving a trail of coolant in my wake thanks to DAS.

Definitely some flex on those numbers, my car's not worth that much and I don't have that level of assets with them but both my cars have been insured with them for almost a year now.

AXA Private client group will cover any car, classics included, fully comp. Had my Vanquish Fully comp with them. I will try and dig out their number for you.

One thing to add with AXA Private client group. I have claimed twice, one for a bad end to end scratch on my RS6. They were awesome. I said I want to take it to Polimar to be done.. at 13k aed. they said no worries. (Many companies would have said do it at some shonky backstreet)

Last month I claimed for a new rim on my GT3 after clipping a curb. Again, no worries, they let ARM replace it and the Tyre, no questions. They even said I should go to Al Naboodah.

Honestly, they are awesome compared to others.
