Ed China was talking about a special kind of car polishing, and I think I need it. My car has dings and scratches all over the place, so need to get them done. I understand that a normal polish will reveal the scratches again after a few washes and this might explain it! Other than having most of the car re-painted, is there a "cutting polish" or something I can have done to permanently cover/remove them, here in Dubai?

Any recommendations?

Normal polishing does very little for the paint, actually shouldn't be done unless its needed as does eat into the lacquer gradually giving a dull finish.

Cutting polish will remove most minor marks but as a rule if you can feel the mark in the paint it typically wont come out.

As you noticed polish washes off quick, does here a lot quicker than in a climate like the UK. Ideally for any level of protection the paint needs waxing (harder the better in this heat) and a sealant applying to the paint also helps. Anything will wear off here quickly though so no easy/long term solution exists.

If you need any advice on it just ask will help out the best I can.
