Hi Everyone,
Me and the wife have one car in Dubai but there is times when I could really be done with a little run around, I seen this on Dubizzle -
http://tnydu.biz/DOq423
I was a BMW Technician for 7 years in Scotland 5 years ago, this brings me right back and would love to own one, it annoys me the lack of old cars available in Dubai for obvious reasons.
Has anyone seen this car? or seen it in the claimed Evo Magazine?
I don't know much about owning older cars in UAE, I read I would only get 3rd party insurance which doesn't bother on the price of the car, is there anything else that would give me a reason not to buy it? (apart from what I see if I go and view it)
Thanks in advance for help
Craig

As said, spares will be fairly hard to find. I have the same issue with my 97 M3 Evo. All spares were brought over from USA or UK (shop and ship).
I can ask around for you on the BMW Club forum or speak to one or two guys I know who are very into BMW's.
Just messaged a mate who owns x2 E30's in Dubai, but he does not know this car.
Obviously check for any rust, check the bushes, hoses etc as they perish rather rapidly here.

I run a 1994 E36 M3 3.0 here in Dubai. It's a second car so if it goes wrong it's not the end of the world. I've not found it too bad over the last 14 months I've owned it. However, as mentioned by others, you do have to order some parts from the UK or Europe as some aren't stocked in Dubai. I had to get an alternator and carbon canister sent over but it only took a week each time. You don't pay VAT if ordering from the UK so that goes some way to covering the cost of shipping. There are plenty of garages in dubai that can help with sourcing parts from overseas. I picked up a socket set, jack, axle stands etc from dragon mart and I've done quite a bit myself, under the car port such as, installed coilovers etc.
I saw the ad for that E30 a few days back and thought it looked good and pretty good value. If it doesn't work out you can always try the Al Awir free zone as there are lots of old Jap imported BMW's down there. Al Hai Motors also have some old beemers in stock. I may be selling my own M3 soon also - there's a pic in my profile but it's now running nicer BBS wheels.

I saw this E30 driving along near Jumeirah 1 the other week with a couple of kids being taken to school in it. It really does look very clean and well sorted in real life, so the photo's are true to life.
All in all a very sweet ride, and I would be very tempted to take a look if I were you. Decent 325's are getting quite saught after in the UK now, so prices are rising.

Whats the deal with Insurance for older cars? any advised companies to use? I'm online with AXA just now and it only lets me select to 2004 haha

You can either use your existing insurance company or just buy it when you actually buy a car at the Tasjeel outlets. I use RSA.
If memory serves, 3rd party on a coupe car will set you back AED1100, around AED750 if it is a saloon.
