Looking at a 2009 Jeep SRT8 at the weekend as a family wagon - anything in particular to be aware of?

It has warranty until Apr 15, just had AC replaced, needs new brakes in 6k km (according to Jeep) - and apparently it's had other work under warranty but without seeing the book I'm not sure what was involved.

I've had mine for over a year now, and no complaints or problems so far. It was bought new so still goes in for its oil change every 5k but that's only around 700aed.
Its comfortable enough, around 350-400 km to a tank. The boots not the biggest if you carry lots of stuff around for the kids, but it does make a lovely noise !!

I believe that that model series of SRT8 cannot have a tow kit fitted (this may not be relevent but it's the reason I went for a Cayenne Turbo instead)
Other than that they are fine vehicles that (AFAIK) don't often go wrong.

Thanks for the comments. I'd like to update the thread but unfortunately the seller didn't bother replying to my calls or messages today so we're looking at other cars.

Not so keen on the Pajero or Prado but they seem to be the best family car options.

Add the VW Touareg to the list.

We purchased ours in 2008 and its never set a foot wrong. Solid build quality, nice interior and a more than capable off roader.

Cheers, will do. Tried to view a couple but always sold when I call.

Looking at a couple of Pajeros and an X5 tonight and will go from there. The X5 sounds ok (2010 3.0 model) but I'm led to believe they are a time bomb.

(I've already got a Golf and an Up, can't get a Touareg as well!!)

Hey just noticed this thread, I am actually selling my very nice 2012 jeep SRT with factory warranty for 5 years , extendable upto 7 years and 200Kms.

its a great car, only selling as I have just bought a raptor.

http://dubai.dubizzle.com/motors/used-cars/jeep/gr...

I personally believe it to be a much nicer ride than the previous model, it has a few extras thrown in like a borla exhaust, lowering springs ( eibach ) which retain factory ride, fully dressed up engine bay, and just completed the 70k service.

Its a cracking car, let me know if your interested

cheers

Thanks Matt - unfortunately a way over my budget. Maybe next time!

Went down a different route in the end - Ford Edge. Not quite the same I admit!

Was hoping to get an 09 SRT 8 but the guy mugged me off. The car is actually for my wife and she chose an Edge instead. It's a stronger man than me that stands in the way of a 7 month pregnant woman with her mind set to something!

Wow - find some excuse to go up to the shopping centre so I can at least pay homage (grin). I am in Alma 1 so will keep an eye for this beast
