So as Chilli will be bored of hearing - I needed to get an external water pump for my Fridge Freezer. After much head bobbing, and direction, re-direction, and mainly mis-direction, I managed to obtain yesterday. Water turns up on Monday so I can get this all set up.

At least I could if only I had a 1/4 inch water tube for the inlet to run from the water container to the pump to the Fridge Freezer. The outlet is fine as attached to machine.

If I was in the UK I would be ordering this:-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PVC-BRAIDED-HOSE-PIPE-RE...

However it does not appear after much head bobbing at Dragon Mart yesterday, and driving around Al Quoz today and asking at AC shops, Plumbing shops, and even (I thought I was being clever) a Pet shop for aquariums, I still don't have the tubing I require. Someone has suggested Satwa to find it - but I am not sure I can face it again!

So any ideas on the above?

Generally - how the hell do you find stuff over here without Ebay? I forgot how much I relied on the internet for information, and it just does not work that way over here!

Next on my list is to get a catflap installed in the house, and after trying Jim'll Fix it, and them not doing it, I am dreading where I have to go next...........

Easy work in construction and get the site guys to sort you out.

Why do you need an external pump on a fridge freezer does not make sense to me. As for hose you go to the hose shop.

Yeah - the hose shop. "Hoses of all types especially braided ones LLC" Problem is, they don't do 'marketing' and you need to physically walk up to the premises, wherever that is.

Or give it to an Indian dude who will know someone who will know where it is.

It's so obvious! Duh!

Unlike the UK you shops tends to sell 1 thing, such as a the hose shop next to the washer shop.

http://www.yellowpages.ae/ is actually quite useful to find them

Yup - and all the hose shops in Dubai will be in one particular area.

Always find that dead funny. They all buy from a single distributor pretty much.

While we're at it. Anyone able to suggest somewhere to get simple balcony furniture? After the small square Rattan type sofa chairs. Ikea are sold out, tried all the big supermarkets + The Garden centre on SZR & Ace. Nought to be had. Only place left I can think of is Dragonmart.

braided pvc hose can be found at supertech on szr

basically OP, get to know the place or get a shop & ship account.

agree with jase on 2 points -

get an engineering job and get your contractors to sort you out.

why the fk does a fridge need an external water pump?

Maybe the fridge has an ice maker / cold water dispenser that needs to be connected to a water bottle.

Join gulfpetrolheads.com, this has a very useful resource map.

We got our garden furniture from Dragonmart.

Shop at the 'posh' end of it, which is I think it the end closest to Dubai, has actual shops rather then the little shacks in the rest of it.

If you go through the main entrance from the 'Dragon's Head' (Dubai) end, walk through the main atrium and there's all the garden stuff on the right, IIRC

You could try Rattan House (or something like that) also on SZR, a bit further away from Abu Dhabi, but on the same side of the road, as Ace etc.
Very good quality, but maybe a bit pricier.

I have just purchased some Rattan House furniture with the place I am renting, to get me by until I buy the stuff I really want, from Dragon Mart!

I had to endure ace hardware for this just last weekend, although to be fair they have got some decent offers on at the moment, and got a decent set for very little.

I hope yor pump is rated for potable water with correct spec impeller and seals. And how do control it.

Tripple filter unit with uv of the mains would be easier and more reliable

For that sort of thing I'd try some of the random builder's shop in Al quoz.

No idea what any of that means. It is the Pump that the LG installation guys use when they fit new fridge freezers for this purpose.
