Me and the missus are off to the Abu Dhabi GP in November.

Going Wed (land in the afternoon) to Monday, staying at the Fairmont and have a hire car to get out and about.

Will be at the circuit Fri-Sun. But what else should we see and do?

We live in london so i'm not fussed at all about shopping / shopping malls - unless they have unique architecture of some kind.

I heard there is a car museum out in the desert that I can drive to? Also is the desert buggy tours any good (they look quite expensive for what they are).

I also like my food and currently have reservations at Marco Pierre Whites and Bord Eau. Anything else I should be considered? What about more local cuisine?

And of course any GP specific tips in terms of driving / what to expect / bring. Think our seats are in the South stand.

Not a lot happens track side Friday, in fact most people seem to turn up for the race, but the marina bars and restaurant are a lot quieter so you could do lunch by the track. As part of your ticket you have access to the Friday concerts but the line up has yet to announced.

If your around on a Friday night you can normal pay to get on to one of the boat parties on the marina which become VVVVIP on sat/sun.

The best thing to see in Abu Dhabi is the grand mosque near your hotel, get on of the free regular tours during the day.

The Deseret safari tours are good for a taste of the old Arab culture, rather than a dune buggy tour. If you want to play in the dunes I would rent a quad for an hour.

To get into the expat lifestyle do a Friday brunch.

Architecturally only a few interesting buildings capital gate and alder HQ, shopping you will find everything but fags and petrol is more expensive and most luxury brands are more expensive than the UK, according to several retailers I work with they charge the most in the UAE because they can.

Local cuisine, not really but if you want something a bit more real rather than tourist try lunch at the Lebanese flower restaurant. Dubai as a far greater choice of fine dining.

Do you know when the concert info will be announced?
