I have a choice of visiting a nearby country (I'm in qatar) for a visa run. I went to dubai last time but its kind of overwhelming going alone, and not having enough time to make freinds. What bahrain like? I'm just looking to go and get drunk somewhere really and have a laugh. What about Abudabi? Or even Kuwait , or Oman ?

Kuwait is dry, so you won't be getting drunk there (unless you know the right people).

Bahrain is not nice, even still. When I went for F1 winter testing I really didn't feel save on the outskirts of the city

Oman is nice - scenic, relaxing.

Beirut is the party capital. Drinks, women, the works.

As above, Oman is great to get away from Dubai, but if you want to get drunk and have a laugh, thats not where I would head. Chill out by the pool for a weekend or go off roading and its perfect..

I'd recommend Bahrain... was there earlier in the year and loved it... in fact I think I could easily live there.

Stayed at the Crowne Plaza and although we were more into the tourist stuff than drinking there were several bars there that seemed to be doing brisk trade.

Muscat is also lovely, again go for the Crowne Plaza rather than the Intercon, though the Chedi is also lovely (if you can justify the cost)

Chedi will be my next stay I think there as I gather there is no wifi and if I'm away on a chill out, I don't want emails pinging through.. Park Hyatt was very good and right on the beach too.

Lol, check the OP...... not sure a visa run from Qatar to Qatar would work very well....
Otherwise I'd agree, We really enjoyed Doha.
