Bringing the car back from Dubai

Is anyone familiar with registering their car in the UK ? I'd like my dad to bring a nice 599 to Europe but some say you have to pay massive import tax etc.

PM not received. I imported to the UK, but have no idea how it works on the Continent.

Long and short of it is if your car is less than 10 years old, it will have to go through the IVA which is very tough, especially if the car has been modified. You can use import specialists (as I did) to handle the paperwork and sort the car, but in retrospect I wish I'd done it all myself.

Also, no import tax if car is over 6 months old and you do not resell within a certain period (I think it's also 6 months).

I'm definitely doing the paperwork myself as professionals I've contacted are outrageously expensive for the little work they have to do. I know I have to pay a 10% import tax but I'm trying to work my way around that too.
