Hi all,

There are loads of threads about where to buy tyres on this site, but I'm trying to find them in a size not stocked by any of the places I've tried so far. 235/40/17 is the size I'm searching for, which doesn't seem that unusual to me, but I can only get 235/45/17. This isn't a problem in the Uk or US but they don't seem to exist here in Dubai.

Any suggestions?

Lol, Was just about to post exactly the same (size as well).

My rears as getting a tad low on the E36 M3 and I have just spent that last 30mins ringing around places.

No joy anywhere for this exact size! Was suggested the same at 235/45/17 but not sure if I want to compromise (even if the ride comfort is a little better!)

Not hard to wear out the rears on an M3! I have 235/45's all round which are fine at standard ride height.

Will try MSW in the week. Failing that, I might get a set sent over with tirerack.com or bring a set over in my shipping after the summer. Let me know if you have any joy elsewhere.

Surprised you haven't sold yours yet - looks a good'un.

I tried MSW yesterday and they couldn't get any initially. I'll call them today and see if they have managed to find any.

I can get some Khumo's in a similar size for 500Dh a corner, might be worth a shot.

I'm not trying my hardest to sell it. I have dropped the price a bit, but then I keep spending on her too. I just love driving it, but it'll be less then ideal (even as a 2nd car) for the little one when he/she arrives.

I got my "Rare as Rocking horse ste" 225 45 16;s for my E30 from Autohaus. However, they only ordered them for me from Ze Fatherland because they are doing a load of work on my car. They are not a "Tyre shop", so I woudn't call and question the price if you know what I mean.

If you want a rare tyre for a BMW though then they worked for me.

The 235/45's will prob by be ok on the back of your E36. There was some rubbing under compression on the arch lip with mine but I have BBS 17's with an offset of et35. Your DS1 sunflowers are offset et41 so sit 6mm further into the arch.

I had Kumho Ecsta's on my E46 M3 in the UK and they were a great tyre.

Know what you mean about practicality. When I put my three year old in it the seat is a bit of a faff but still doable.

Mine are 235/40/17 all round. I read this is normal on the earlier models

Yeah, it is. Just saying if you can't get the original size you can run the 235/45 instead. What size do the Kumho come in and from where?

Sorry, I just read it wrong!

I've rang so many places now I cannot remember which sizes the Khumo's were in, but it was at the tyre shop directly opposite MSW.

I'll note them down tomorrow when I ring up, need to get some this week.......have visions of mine exploding in this heat!
