Hello. Arrived in Dubai 6 weeks ago from the UK and great to see a Piston Head group here. Have left my Z4M behind but at least fulfilled a bucket list wish of a V8 with a Hemi Dodge Charger in the garage. Was a keen track day user back home and interested in what people drive here, particularly if there is any market in light weight track cars like Caterhams.
Hi and welcome.
Coming into week 4 for us! You didn't waste any time - we are still on the rented camry.
Running around like a mad person at the moment trying to find a place before our company accommodation comes to an end at the end of this month. Then hope to do a catch up and intro with people!

welcome, 6 weeks is bloody good going for your first car!
aye i have a 7 clone, gts clubman which is a duratec powered locost. quite a rebuild saga that one, nearly there and will be on track this winter should i be in country long enough to finish it! take it from me its PITA doing anything yourself here. rewarding mind you but takes forever.
in the meantime i bought this with jase [e21jason]:
http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...
but he keeps breaking it.......
jase also has a 1.8 kseries caterham which was bought as a non runner but is almost ready for tasjeel.
few others with track cars here - chris has a self built r500, sam an s2000, terry a 997, hugh a clio rs197 and yorky a very tidy e36 m3 evo. the rest of them talk a good game are all too chicken to put their money where it matters
there is an official caterham dealer [gulfsport] but you'll pay more than uk prices. there's a few westies around including one in build, and plenty of track cars and enthusiasts over at evolve.ae and gulfpetrolheads.com. depends how deep your pockets are. 30-40k will get you something reasonable, and gulfsport are allegedly selling off the formula gulf 1000 single seaters for 110k a pop.
plenty of time to find something mind you. there are track evenings through summer but not many takers as oil/water temps very quickly get above sensible. could only manage 6-7 laps of club last month in a single spell before having to come in and cool down.

Welcome along, As Shirt says, theres plenty of track cars available, just not a lot of people actually doing it. There was a Caterham style GTS at the autodrome today but think the owner got a bit hot before the car . There is also Gulfsport with the fg1000 or plenty of Radicals in the 2nd hand market.
Good Luck
Good Luck
Check to see if you can road register before buying, the RTA can be a bit picky as to what they allow on the roads. Stripped out cars with cages not allowed, harnesses not allowed, stickers not allowed....
Then check with the Autodrome to see if they will allow it on the track. Must have headlights, must have covered wheels, must have Dunlop tyres.....
Then go get one of these... http://tnydu.biz/DOovfJ
Or this... http://tnydu.biz/DOoDyT
Or this... http://tnydu.biz/DOovIM (if it is infact a real car and in the UAE?)
