Hi Folks,

Looking for a bit of advice regarding UK Passports / Angolan Visa's / UAE Residency, maybe someone has experienced this before.

I work offshore in the oil & gas industry, I am a UK Citizen, I have my residency stamp in my 1st UK Passport, I have a 2nd UK Passport requested for by my work but never used.

My ship is moving to Angola, crew changing out of Luanda and I need to apply for an Angolan Visa.

I need to leave and enter Dubai on my first passport as it has the residency in it - and my E-Gate is linked to.

My work however is applying for the Angolan Visa with my second passport

Can I leave Dubai on my first passport and show my second passport when I reach Angolan Customs?

I cant really risk sending my first passport away for an Angolan Visa because if I do not receive it back in time or it held up ill need to enter Dubai using my second passport which doesn't have the residency which could mean visa runs etc (otherwise a pain in the arse)

Anybody experienced this?

yes you can, i do this all the time - first for entry/exit out of dxb and the second for collecting visas. never had any issue and neither has anyone at work [very common practice, its good to have a backup PP in africa!].

I am in exactly the same situation as you, UAE residency in one passport and Angolan visa in the other, I've been doing this for 4 years now with no issues.

I have even (on occasion) forgotten my passport with the UAE residency in it and just relied on e-gate to get me out and back in from DXB though that is perhaps slightly risky to do intentionally!
