WTF is this - Killer insect content

This monster tried to take a chunk out of my neck today before I heroically wrestled it to the ground. It was about 3 inches long including the wavy bits. Should I be concerned, am I going to wake up in the morning with six legs and need a bag of sugar for breakfast?

there was a rhinocerous beetle by the pool yesterday, came up to the side and he was sat there wanting to fight me. i hid underwater.
