Gut feeling is you need pretty big stones and/or deep pockets to run one of those without a warranty over here.

No personal experience, just don't think they are the most reliable of beasts!

Non starter. As per my E-Mail to you. Rangies and Porsches are the biggest money pits you could buy, and this is coming from someone who runs a race car!

Unless you go new dont do it.

BMW and Mercedes are a close 3rd and 4th to these too in terms of the dealership service. If you get a flat tyre dont be suprised if they want to replace the alloy, brakes, suspension and steering wheel and they'll refuse to do anything less.

ETA: I have a mate with a rangie, I told him not to get it and it has been nothing but trouble, new complete sound system, the suspension failed (land rover wanted to replace the whole kit) and it turned out to be a small part that he ordered from his friend who works at land rover in the uk for 30 quid, then he got my mates garage to install it.

His clock on the dash failed, landrover wanted 30k to replace the faulty loom when all he did was get a clock off his mate again and it was as good as new...honestly I could go on but I think I've made my point. Rangies dont like sand and the service is terrible.

Another option is a Hummer H3 or an older Jag XJ.

Oddly - the service doesn't seem to have got any better from the 70's then! My uncle was over there then and all the workers had Toyota etc and the bosses insisted on S1 Range Rovers and after a year all the RR's were in the compound (abandoned!) with the windows etc falling out and they'd all gone back to Toyota.

No personal experience but my neighbour has one which has given nothing but trouble. Not only has it been mechanicaly unreliable the dealer netowrk is to be avoided too!

A friend of mine has had very similar experiences to the above, do not touch with a barge pole I am afraid to say (I love the look of them!)
