Hi folks, will any old opticians do an eye test for the driving licence exchange? Probs in marina mall?
Thanks

Not sure - think they can but certain opticians can actually do renewals online for you providing you have all the paperwork.

Mine ran out last week and need to get it sorted.

I've done over a decade in this sthole hehe

Took a prescription from an optician in the marina mall with me when I first got my licence - was a few days old as I'd just got new glasses. RTA people wouldn't accept it and I still had to give them 100 (I think) in cash on their keyboard to have their test which was a 30 second 'can you see the board over there' type test. i.e. utterly useless.

No point in my arguing as it was one of those 'pay up or I'll make you wait all day' jobs..

Most of them do.
However, remember passport / visa / EID copy and a photograph.

Best to ring the branch And ask. They have to be linked to the rta system to be able to do it

Top of the day. Go to the photo express place, and get 20 passport sized photos and the CD. You will always need them!

Yes it is the coop one, hardly anyone knows about it so it's always empty.

FYI - the RTA office in the coop mall has now closed.

I got my eye test done then had to go to the municipality office in Al Manara. It's only ten mins away.

Cool. It was dead quiet when I went. Plenty of parking too.
