Alright guys,

Im finally going to buy myself a new motocross bike at the end of this month, and was just wondering if anyone has any experience of towing in Dubai?

Obviously the bike trailer is pretty small (will prob get a quad bike style one so 2 bikes will fit) Is it a legal requirement to have tail-lights fitted to a trailer here? or is it classed as 'ok' if the towing vehicle tail lights can be seen?

The Range Rover has a detachable tow hitch, but it doesn't have an electric harness fitted...

Just to add, with the quality of the driving here, especially on SZR, in the long term I would definitely want to have the trailer lit. Especially if off anywhere in mornings/eve. But just for the short term - getting the new bike to to the track before a wiring harness is sourced, is it legal??

Have towed trailers here without lights and number plates, never had any issues with being stopped, not the best option though

For your towbar harness call Gulfstar in Sharjah, should be a simple plug and play jobbie

One of the circuit racers got a ticket on Thursday for not having lights on his trailer. So maybe there is a new "unheard of" law that now mandates lights on trailers.

Cheers guys.

Think there is a wiring kit in the US that keeps things looking OEM so will order one I think.

i had lights on my trailer but they were never plugged in to anything. at the moment i have no lighst and have been towing today with no issues.

better to have them, got new ones to go on mine and a harness etc.

light or not, expect to experience new levels of driving lunacy whilst towing.

Apparently Abu Dhabi are quite hot on wanting lights.

I seem to remember that Abu Dhabi emirate requires a flashing orange beacon on trailers... certainly we used to fit one when we took the cart to Al Ain track.

Haha, yea, I'm fully expecting this to be the case.

Not sure what your plans are for the bike but when I had mine I used a trailer at first but then just stored it with Emirates Bike Tours out on the Hatta Road. Twenty minutes drive from my place in Downtown and you can ride directly into the dunes from there. There are loads of people around at weekends so you'll also be able to find riding buddies if you need them.

Obviously, if you want to ride actual motocross this wouldn't be a good idea as the MX track is at the opposite end of town.

Yea have looked into storage, but I want it at home really as I always like to tinker with the bike when I'm not riding it.

75% track riding 25 desert I'm guessing. Wrong time of year to be buying really now it's starting to get hot. But hopefully get some use of it before it gets too bad!
